We do not publish aircraft star ratings or identify a safest flying car. Our current work explains the evidence a comparison would require, and the limits of what a certification announcement or accident count can establish.

Define the comparison first

“Flying car” is a broad consumer term. A roadable airplane and a vertical-lift aircraft may have different designs, uses and approval paths. Decide whether you are comparing design approval, operating experience, occupant protection or the suitability of a particular operation. Those are separate questions.

A certificate is not a league table

The FAA evaluates aircraft through certification and operating frameworks. Certification establishes compliance within an applicable scope; it is not a consumer ranking of every design against every other design. A claim about a planned approval is also different from an issued certificate.

What a useful comparison would disclose

  • The same clearly defined outcome for each aircraft.
  • The test conditions or operating exposure behind the result.
  • Who collected and independently checked the evidence.
  • Which versions and dates the evidence covers.
  • Uncertainty, missing information and conflicts of interest.

This is our proposed evidence framework, not an established certification standard. A missing document means the question remains unresolved. It does not, by itself, establish that an aircraft is unsafe.

Why there are no stars here

We have not assembled an independently verified, comparable aircraft dataset or conducted physical testing. Assigning numbers would imply precision we cannot support.
